Post It Note Murals

Mixing Art and Math
Posted on 08/18/2022
3rd grade IPS Scholars used their mathematical and artistic skills to create larger than life post-it note murals.  Students first learned about pixels, tiny squares of a single color that can make up a larger image. Then they used legos to design an IPS inspired picture. Scholars then counted, transferred and mapped their lego pictures onto graph paper. Next, they calculated the wall area needed for their mural by measuring post it notes and multiplying the number of pixels on their graph. Finally, students utilized their grids as a map to successfully install their post-it notes to create an IPS inspired message for their peers!
