New Experiences

As the school year begins to wind down at the I Promise School, our students are still busy learning and exploring everything they can. 

Our 3^rd graders recently spent a sunny afternoon at the Akron Zoo to identify and observe several different animal species. With their hands pressed against the glass, their minds filled with wonder getting to see so many amazing creatures. It’s always a treat to get out and explore the world around us, especially right here in our own backyard in Akron. 

That exploration recently extended to the WKYC Studios where our I PROMISE School news team paid a visit to our partners at the local NBC affiliate. Our resident media pros got to tour the news station and a few of them even made guests appearances on their 4pm “What’s New” broadcast with Dominick delivering a live look at the weather and Gabby joining at the desk for a segment of “Show Us Something Good.” We are so thankful to our partners at WKYC and Kaulig Companies for providing the tools to help our IPS news team continue learning and experiencing the media industry in such a unique, hands-on way. 

It’s always a treat to get out and explore the world around us, especially right here in our own backyard in Akron.

Just down the street from IPS, we’re beyond excited to have our I PROMISE Housing with East Akron Neighborhood Development Corporation now open for applications for interested families! After two years of construction, the brand new development offers 50 units of affordable housing featuring nine 2-bedroom, 38 3-bedroom, and three 4-bedroom apartments.

The LeBron James Family Foundation will provide wraparound supports to all I PROMISE families living at IPH including job and family services, medical and mental healthcare, educational and career advancement training, and financial literacy programming. 

This is the lasting, visible change we promised and continue to deliver on. And we will Just. Keep. Building. in response to our families’ needs in Akron.
