Summer is here and the activities for our I PROMISE students and families are in full swing! From entering a new competition to accepting an experience in a new place, it all starts with keeping promises.
In Akron, the All-American Soap Box Derby is a staple. For I PROMISE student James and his family, it’s now a promise kept. Over the weekend, IPS 6th grader James jumped into his white soap box – the same one once used by Cleveland Cavalier Larry Nance – now emblazoned with IPS RACING on the front. It was a moment years in the making, as he had promised his father he’d enter the race before he passed. As James and his red helmet raced down the lane, with his family and Team LJFF cheering him on, it was a special moment we’ll never forget. We can’t wait to see James in the derby again next year with his own custom soap box!
