Opening Doors

An important part of our work at the LeBron James Family Foundation is providing experiences and opening doors our kids and families never knew existed. It’s about offering opportunities that help them find what they are passionate about and then empowering them to achieve it.

Our 7^th grade I PROMISE scholars recently went behind-the-scenes of a live radio show to see all the people, positions, and skills that go into making the audio programming possible. The University of Akron’s Kolbe Hall became our scholars’ lab for the day as they toured the WZIP studio and were part of a live production. UA’s Communications Department rolled out the red carpet to show our kids how all the magic happens and how they can be part of it.

It’s about offering opportunities that help them find what they are passionate about and then empowering them to achieve it.

Opening their minds to more possibilities, our I PROMISE families recently spent a special evening exploring Akron Rotary Camp and taking in the endless opportunities on site. After a high ropes adventure and other activities, our students and their parents shared a family meal and learned more about what camp has to offer.

We are so thankful to Akron Rotary for hosting such a special night, and we look forward to our families digging into more this summer!

All of these opportunities would not be possible without our partners. As part of UA’s Inaugural Week of Giving, they are working to raise $25,000 to support our I PROMISE scholars’ needs as they transition from high school to college. We’re so proud of our students who are persevering through so much to pursue their degrees and we want to do everything we can to support them every step of the way.
