State of the Family II
I Promise Program updates… live musical performances… a whole lot of passion… and puppets. LJFF’s annual State of the Family has a little something for everyone, and has come to represent the fun-loving, hard-working spirit of the Foundation. As we reconvened our family of partners and peers in our work to redefine community, we laughed, we cried and we highlighted everything that makes it all possible.
For us, the event marks a time to share our latest news, our learnings, and our dreams. Like our big plans for House Three Thirty, our lessons learned from the pandemic, and our resolve to JUST. WORK. We also tapped into the momentum building around making I Promise a movement that extends far beyond our community and into cities across the country.
As we reconvened our family of partners and peers in our work to redefine community, we laughed, we cried and we highlighted everything that makes it all possible.
After weaving in and out of where we’ve been and where we’re going – complete with video clips, photo slide shows, hit songs, and puppet jokes – the evening culminated in the Cabaret’s first musical act under its new visionWith singer/songwriters Casey Hurt and Matt Putnam baring their hearts and singing about Family, it was the perfect performance for this moment.
Casey’s special rendition of “God, Your Momma and Boss” will be a moment this family will never forget.
LJFF’s State of the Family is anything but traditional, and that’s by design. Because we’re working hard to change the mold of what’s possible and reframe how things can be reimagined for the better. And like everything we do, that is work for a lifetime.
