Reason for the Season

With the holidays upon us, we’re rocking around the Christmas tree and working around the clock to continue putting our passion into action for our families in Akron. With so many exciting things coming – the adding of another class at the I PROMISE School, the building of I PROMISE Housing and the renovation of House Three Thirty – we are always reflecting on how we can better serve and break down more barriers in any way we can. Our partners are constantly in on the action as well.

‘Tis the season they say. But for us, our kids and our family is the reason for the season, every day of the year.

This week before our I PROMISE students headed off for winter break, our family at J.M. Smucker Co provided thousands of snacks to sustain our kids and their families over the long holiday, with our I PROMISE Network students helping to pack and our volunteers from JP Morgan Chase, Faithful Servants, and LAB Community helping to deliver snack packs to our families across the community, with over 330 miles driven and nearly 3,000 minutes logged to make hundreds of Christmas deliveries.

Our friends at Walmart and Smarts and Crafts also sent some of our I PROMISE School students home with arts and crafts kits to keep them active and creative over the break. Delivered during class, every student’s face lit up as soon as they saw all the materials they had to create from.
