👑 What ties us TOGETHER

I PROMISE students, families and volunteers including our friends from the Rotary Club of Akron packed the Cabaret at House Three Thirty to create a little, well actually, a LOT of Handmade Happiness. After enjoying a delicious breakfast together prepared by the HTT Culinary Team, members of our community showed their spectacular crafting and blanket-making skills by whipping up over 100 tie blankets that will go to ACCESS Shelter and I PROMISE Village families. The event was sponsored by our amazing partner, JOANN who donated all blanket-making supplies and were on hand to guide the blanket-making community service experience. JOANN has been an incredible support to the Foundation, and to the I PROMISE Village especially. Several of our I PROMISE Network high school students took advantage of the opportunity to earn some valuable community service hours as they work to earn their I PROMISE Scholarship.

Speaking of our high school students, the Foundation team was proud to show a little love to our talented volleyball players. It was a match-up between Firestone and Buchtel, and was a special night at Firestone High School as the seniors were honored which included some of our very own I PROMISE families. The Firestone lady Falcons walked away with a win and hopefully a renewed sense of pride for the accomplishments they have made throughout their high school seasons.

The I PROMISE School athletes aren't that far away from experiencing their own high school athletic journeys and there are some amazing soccer players who will be coming out of IPS. After another win earlier this week against Litchfield CLC, the IPS Soccer team is now 7-1 with their final match-up tonight vs. Jennings CLC at the Copley Rd. Soccer Complex, IPS's home field. The IPS Soccer team has consistently demonstrated all five Habits of Promise this season, something that they focus on while in the classroom and have committed to bringing onto the field as a team. There wasn't a single game that they didn't show perseverance, partnership, problem solving abilities, perspective and perpetual learning. And we know tonight will be no different as the IPS Soccer team will have the opportunity to demonstrate these Habits of Promise in an effort to tie for the City Championship!

IPS Soccer... high school athletes... and community partners: you make us proud to say WE ARE FAMILY.
