t's been a great start to the school year for our I PROMISE School students, and while they have been in session for several weeks now, our I PROMISE Network high school students were still enjoying some final moments of summer break.
For some, they chose to spend their last day of summer break soaking in the sun and lake vibes on the grounds of the beautiful Akron Rotary Camp. Our I PROMISE Institute team hosted a Back to School Workshop in partnership with the Akron Rotary Camp and Coleman Health Services. Students from East, Ellet, Buchtel, Garfield, Firestone, North, APS Online and AAA attended the workshop which combined yard games, nature walks, breakout sessions, lunch with Team LUFF, prizes and a school supply giveaway. The breakout sessions focused on cope-ahead skills and mindfulness as our I PROMISE Scholars kick off what we hope to be a positive school year. Not only are they eager to start the school year, but also ready to start clocking in their community service hours to earn their scholarships. We're excited to see several of them returning back to the Akron Rotary Camp to serve other I PROMISE students as they earn those community service hours.
Back at the I PROMISE School, teachers and staff are continuing to be sorted into their houses and building the anticipation for our I PRONISE scholars to be sorted in a few weeks. Our newest scholars in the family, the 3rd graders, benefitted from "Reading the Playbook" volunteer readers with Delta Sigma Theta sorority, Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity and Phi Beta Sigma fraternity who shared their time and energy investing in our students.
Just down Market Street, House Three Thirty officially introduced new fall hours for the building this week with summer coming to a close. Rest assured, you can still get your 6AM Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew from Starbucks, your daily lunch slice from Secret Pizza, the best burrito in town for Taco Tuesday lunch and asignature sundae on the daily. We're simply adjusting our closing time on the weekends and are back to our regular hours of Monday-Friday 6am-5pm and Saturday 8am-6pm.
When not spending their days at House Three Thirty, our team members embrace opportunities within the community. In a few weeks, many of them will be following the blue line throughout our city for the Akron Marathon, and this past weekend HTT Team Members walked in the Akron City Parade carrying a dual branded banner representing LJFF and HTT. We love our city and this community we all call home.
