👑 Rolling and Running and Ramen… OH MY!!

The I PROMISE Soccer team is on a big-time roll starting the season off 3-0 with recent wins against Innes, Hyre and Buchtel. The team has its sights set on another win tonight against Litchfield at 4:30pm at the Copley Rd Soccer Complex. Come grab a seat to cheer on our home team! 

Last week, the team at House Three Thirty hosted the I Promise School Academy Prep class visit, which welcomed 47 7th & 8th graders from IPS into the Heart of the House. The visit was centered around a cooking demonstration with a mystery recipe for the day... Ramen Noodles in Chicken Broth prepared by the BEST Chefs in the Land! Led by Chef Joel Orellana (or as we call him Chef Papi), these IPS scholars experienced a behind-the-scenes tour of the Heart of the House which included storage, equipment, tools, safety in the kitchen, workstation prep and some important terminology. We all will be making mirepoix a fixture in all of our kitchens! AKRON

The culinary team led students through open family conversations about favorite meals, the history & culture of ramen, different noodles, cooking techniques and what actually makes it ramen. The IPS scholars then watched Chef Papi do a live demonstration of roasting chicken and making ramen which culminated in the students building their own ramen bowls. They piled their bowls high with chicken, tofu, poached egg, corn, scallions, shitake mushrooms and, of course, hot sauce to bring all the flavors together. Everyone grabbed a pair of chopsticks and ate together as a family in the Cabaret before heading back down Market Street to the school. When the scholars returned to IPS, they reflected on their time in the Heart of the House and they really valued being able to experience House Three Thirty not as guests this time but behind the scenes learning what all goes on to make the house run. A huge shout-out to our HTT Team Members for hosting some important members of the FAMILY.

 

Speaking of RUNNING... you may not see your usual barista early this Saturday morning if you visit the House Three Thirty Starbucks. This is because some of our very own HTT Team Members will be running on relay teams in this weekend's Akron Marathon. But don't let that stop you from running down to House Three Thirty on Saturday morning to cheer on all runners following the blue line past 532 W Market Street. House Three Thirty will have live music on our Starbucks patio as part of the Akron Marathon celebrations and we anticipate some of the very first runners to pass by our House around 9AM! Let's go RUNNERS!
