👑 Halloween Greetings and College Meetings

It's not even Halloween and this family has already gotten a big share of tricks, treats and frights! Following the fun our middle and high school students had at the Haunted Schoolhouse, our I PROMISE School elementary students enjoyed a day filled with parties and trick-or-treating around the school. The IPS team was festive in their Halloween finest as they hosted stations throughout the school where students competed in different themed relays. The students showed their best skills in mummy wrapping, spaghetti relays, the skeleton eyeball pass and ghost stacks. In the evening, students got to make their way throughout the halls of the school in costume collecting candy all the way, much different from a typical day at IPS! Our Village families will wrap up the Halloween season with a family trick-or-treat community gathering throughout their building this week, providing another opportunity for our network students to get some valuable community service hours.

The Foundation was eager to welcome back, and also welcome for the first time, some of our JPMorgan Chase Force for Good team members who visited Akron last week. We have been the proud beneficiary of Chase's Tech for Social Good (TFSG) program for ten years now and we are continually thankful for the technology solutions the Force for Good team has provided to us in our work. They have allowed us to set up systems behind the scenes to track all the amazing progress our students are making in the I PROMISE program, build family plans, identify areas of need in our network, and even seamlessly check in thousands of family members at our annual WE ARE FAMILY Reunion at Cedar Point each year. They are a team that makes us proud to say WE ARE FAMILY. 

While our properties on this side of Market Street were bustling last week, across town the 5th graders from the I PROMISE School experienced a packed day with the l PROMISE Institute team and our friends on the campus of The University of Akron. The students were welcomed up to the I PROMISE Institute just like they had been when they were in 3rd grade. Each year the I PROMISE School students have the opportunity for a campus experience at Kent State University and The University of Akron so that by the time they are in high school, they'll already feel comfortable being on campus and can visualize themselves there on scholarship in the not-so-distant future. After a welcome, students were sent off to their stations across campus where they experienced Biomimicry, Akronauts, and ROTC at The University of Akron.

They enjoyed a family lunch together at the I PROMISE Institute before making the journey back to school as they eagerly talked about their next college visit. By the time these students graduate high school in 2032, we'll have already seen hundreds of our students on scholarship through The University of Akron, Kent State University and Stark State College and we can't wait to welcome hundreds more in the coming years. Go Zips... Go Flashes... Go Spartans! Looks like we're a house divided but that doesn't change that WE ARE FAMILY!
