👑 Five Houses. One IPS.
👑 Five Houses. One IPS.
WE ARE FAMILY. There's no team tighter than FAMILY. FAMILY sticks together. These have been built and tested over the last 13 years that the I PROMISE program has been in place. And now there's something new being built at the I PROMISE School. Our teachers and staff have spent years studying and researching best practices across the country and because of this IPS has introduced the House System to our school culture. You've heard of house rules, right?! Well, at IPS, house rules are taking on a whole new meaning.
Leading up to last week, IPS staff and Foundation team members were sorted into one of five different houses that represent different ideals. These ideals have been part of IPS since day one, but now we're kicking it up a notch. Representing the color RED, House of Tumanako is the House of Perspective. Representing the color BLACK is the House of Ore, the House of Partners. You'll find our problem solvers donning BLUE in the House of Shorisha and perpetual learners sporting PURPLE in the House of Perpetuo. And last but not least, representing the color YELLOW is the House of Nkramo, the House of Perseverance. There is deep history and symbolism within each house that will become a way of life at IPS from here on out as they incorporate our Habits of Promise. FIVE HOUSES, but ONE IPS with the goal of fostering creativity, collaboration and community across the entire school.
And finally, the moment we've all been waiting and preparing for happened at the end of last week. It was a big day for our scholars, the first ever IPS House Sorting Day!! The weather couldn't have been better, the spooky Halloween decorations were on point and students gathered all around the grounds of IPS in anticipation of finding out which house they were sorted into. Students dressed in the color of the house they were hoping they'd be sorted to. Confetti poppers went off all around IPS in BLUE, YELLOW, BLACK, RED and PURPLE to signify which house the students were officially a part of. There were cheers and even tears of excitement! IPS Staff and Foundation team members greeted their newest house members and our first family house photos were taken. House Sorting will now be an official right of passage when students enter IPS in 3rd grade and it will stay with them through their time at IPS.
We're proud to have our 4th - 8th graders officially sorted and 3rd graders will be sorted after they return from fall break. To check out the IPS House Hype video, click here and stay tuned for more updates from our houses. FIVE HOUSES, ONE IPS... WE ARE FAMILY.
