👑 Big Dreams Coming to Life
👑 Big Dreams Coming to Life
Coming off yet another great Taco Tuesday at House Three Thirty (if you haven't been yet, you don't want to miss the next one!), the Foundation team kept that "around the table" feel going with the second Family Feast of the school year for the entire I PROMISE Network. There was no shortage of delicious food, family conversation, gift card drawings, and resources to tap into. The I PROMISE Institute team was on hand to guide families as they worked through each individual student journey. Students earned points for attending the event which goes toward their scholarship eligibility. The room was packed even before the event started, something we had big dreams of when we first started working on House Three Thirty. We love filling up the JM Smucker Hometown Hall as our families show up each and every tim.
They volunteer for the event as well as promote some incredible job opportunities in the area. They have been a support to House Three Thirty, sponsoring the Heart of the House as well as our community programs that continue pouring into our team members. They don't hesitate to jump in and help with checking families in and making them feel welcome, allowing the Foundation team to focus in on some of those individual conversations to wrap around our families. Our Parent LeBron Advisory Board was also on hand to provide additional wrap-around supports to our families. They serve as an important extension of the Foundation and help us keep a pulse on our students and families so that we can continually and more effectively listen and respond. In addition to PepsiCo, we want to also thank the following organizations for being a part of another successful Family Feast: Haven of Rest, Paws & Prayers, Cleveland Clinic Akron General, Akron Children's Museum, Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, AxessPointe, Coleman Health Services, Timken, Stark State College, Kent State University, and members of our Community LeBron Advisory Board. You all help us to continue dreaming big for the place we are so proud to call home.
If you were sad to see the fall sports season come to a close at the I PROMISE School, you're in luck because we've ramped up our winter sports season with games so far against Hyre, St. Augustine (boys) and Buchtel. Currently this season, you'll find our 7th grade boys basketball team, 8th grade boys basketball team, 7th/8th grade girls basketball team, Cheer team and Step team working hard both on and off the court. We can't say it enough that sports at IPS has truly been a game-changer. We may be Five Houses, One IPS, but when it comes to the basketball season across Akron, we're finding ourselves as a house divided each week as we've got some amazing student-athletes who moved up to high school from IPS and are now competing for opposing teams. This week we saw a girls basketball match-up between Ellet and Firestone; we're still not used to them in their new team colors. They will always be IPS from the start but we celebrate their new teams, the roles they play on those teams and their big dreams. Student-athletes... you make us proud to say WE ARE FAMILY.
