👑 All Our Favorite Houses

If you were anywhere near the I PROMISE School on Monday morning, you may have heard loud screams and cheers coming down Market Street. That's because it was finally Sorting Day for our 3rd graders and it was done in style. Students were welcomed at the top of the grand staircase in IPS's lobby with a giant colorful wheel just waiting to be spun. The 4th graders who were joined by the 3rd graders when they were sorted before Fall Break had the opportunity to join the 3rd graders and welcome them into their new houses. Every single 3rd grader stepped up to the giant house wheel and took it for a spin; around and around it went past blue, black, purple, red and yellow. IPS students, staff and Foundation team members shouted and cheered as it went past their own house colors until it finally stopped with the loudest screams and chants coming from the house selected as they welcomed another member into the house family!

The 4th graders role modeled what a royal welcome into each house should look like, each house distributing prizes as a "welcome home" gift to newest house members. Now that IPS has officially sorted everyone, including our friends at The Cleveland Film Co who are part of the IPS family, it's time to kick things up. The House Leaders have a lot in store for everyone this year and we can't wait to see our very first team members proudly displayed on the leader boards throughout the school. Five Houses, One IPS... WE ARE FAMILY!!

Speaking of family, members of the Foundation team and I PROMISE Network high school students made their way around Akron this past weekend to show our support for the upcoming levy. We visited houses of some of our students in the neighborhoods around North High School and around the I PROMISE School. We loved seeing our students and families, and we want to do our part to be advocates for this amazing community. House Three Thirty was the perfect central location for us to meet and make our way throughout our beautiful city. And shout out to our I PROMISE families who really know how to bring it with the Halloween décor!

No Halloween season would be complete around here without our traditional scares at the Haunted Schoolhouse for our middle & high school I PROMISE students. Most years we're bundled up trying to stay warm or dodging raindrops but this year it was the most perfect fall night for frights and there was no shortage from our friends at the Haunted Schoolhouse.

Thanks to our awesome Chase Force for Good team, we were able to once again quickly and successfully check in our hundreds of students and their family members for the event. And we haven't forgotten about our elementary I PROMISE students; they will have their special, fun and safe trick-or-treat around the school this Friday. The IPS teaching teams usually bring out all the stops for this so who will have the best hallway theme this year?!

As you can tell, it's been a fun-filled week around IPS and has been quite an awesome several weeks for our IPS Soccer team who ended the season 7-2 last week. We couldn't be more proud of these student-athletes who consistently demonstrated the 5 Habits of Promise both on and off the field this season. We'll soon be holding our end of season banquet and firing up another season of basketball, cheer & step at IPS. Sports at IPS has been a game changer and we are so proud of every single one of our athletes, coaches, and parents who are committed to these opportunities for our students. You all make us proud to say WE ARE FAMILY.
