Thankful for Family

Family isn’t something we simply celebrate around the table at Thanksgiving. We honor and celebrate our family every single day through our work to redefine community in our hometown.

We’re blessed that our family extends far beyond the walls of our homes. It includes our I PROMISE students and all of their family members, our educators and experts at the I PROMISE School, our incredible network of partners, and everyone who believes in and touches this movement in some way.

While we’re thankful for this family and this work every single day, Thanksgiving is always a good time to reflect on the journey we’re all on together. Because we know we cannot do this alone.

We’re thankful for our students and families who trust us to join them on their journey.

We honor and celebrate our family every single day through our work to redefine community in our hometown.

We’re thankful for the teachers, intervention specialists, and staff at the I PROMISE School for committing their time, love and expertise to our students.

We’re thankful to every single partner that contributes their resources and passion to the I PROMISE mission because they believe in what we’re trying to achieve.

We’re thankful for the Thanksgiving dinners we were able to deliver straight to our families’ door steps during our Thanksgiving distribution by Lender’s Bagels. The team at Lender’s supported this effort alongside a strong team effort from our Chase volunteers, the Akron Canton Food Bank, the team at Timken, IPS staff, 330 Ambassadors, team LJFF and our reliable resources from Routific that allows us to build the most efficient delivery routes. It also wouldn’t have been possible with the dozens of I Promise Network students who gave their time to pre-pack the bags of fixings as part of their commitment to community service. This takes a Village, and it’s worth every single smile and thanks from our families.

We’re thankful for the Duquesne Men’s Basketball team, Coach Dambrot and Coach Joyce for taking time out of their jam-packed season schedule to spend an afternoon with our IPS students and share their time, talents, and stories.

We’re thankful for family meals. At Thanksgiving and every day.

We’re thankful for you taking the time to read our updates. Your support means the world to us.

And we’re thankful to everyone who believes in the magic happening in Akron as a means to create change across the country and around the world. We will continue to work day in and day out to make a difference.

From our family to yours, we hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!
