Our I PROMISE students are many wonderful things. Creative thinkers, contributing family members, hard working students, promise keepers and problem solvers. When there’s a question to answer or challenge to address, our educators, partners, and Foundation team all rally to make sure they have the resources they need to come up with a solution.
Putting their STEM learning into action in the Timken Makerspace, a group of IPS students recently tackled a logistical and tactical problem. Getting their needed tools and supplies to and from their special classes had become a bit of a challenge. So they headed to the Makerspace to create a solution by hand. Mentored by our crafty partners at Joann’s, our students got to design and produced custom tote bags to fit their supplies and their own personal style. From coming up with the concept to producing the design and pressing the bags by hand, it was an incredible STEM experience that solved a problem and sparked creative thinking.
